Happy New Year

Well another year is upon us!  In two years our class will meet another milestone.  I hope that everyone stays healthier or gets healthier in the new year.  That's my plan!  (Did you hear that Debbie Washington is out of rehab and has gone back home? Continue to pray for her and I will keep you posted on her recovery.)

We should start planning for a cruise or a trip for 2014.  Start sending suggestions and information and I will post it on the blog.  I am so glad that many in our class got together in 2012.  Let's stay in contact!

Christmas Memories from Barb

One of my fondest memories of Christmastime at Mercy was that of Sr. Rita Marie’s Spanish class and singing along to Feliz Navidad!

It’s a happy memory and it comes to mind each time I hear Jose Feliciano start to sing it!!  Mostly, I envision Donna Bonk singing and dancing to the tune!

Happy Holidays

I remember Christmas to be a special time at Mercy High School.  In my freshmen year I sang with the Freshman Chorale.  Wasn't Sr. Rosemary the director? 
In my senior year I was in the Glee Club.  That was so much fun.  Do you have any Christmas memories?  If you want to share, I will post them!

Have a safe and happy holiday.  Please say prayers for everyone who cannot share this special day with their angels.

Do you have any new or old photos that you want to share?  Carol and Judy and Debra have posted photos on Facebook or e-mailed them to me.  I want to make a short movies.  In the meantime, I will post slide shows.  I will periodically change the set up and music as I receive them.

Well...the e-mail list went out a couple of days ago.  Ladies who attended the luncheon wrote their e-mail addresses on the sign-in sheet.  If you know of anyone who would like to be added to list, please send their e-mail address to me and I will put it on the list.

Some alumni want to share addresses and telephone numbers.  I will send an e-mail soon for those who want to share this info.  (Some girls have already done so.)  This will be optional. No personal information will be put on Facebook.

I am also looking for photos from the event.  I've "harvested" a few from the internet.  I will share them on the blog.  Please let me know if you do not want your image posted.

Reunited...

Our 40th reunion was the best.  So many "young" ladies showed up for our special celebration.  Cheryle Wall created the coolest key rings made for us.  Everyone passed around yearbooks, a school newspaper and photo albums.  We even had an old senior uniform!  Deborah Washington's sister, Janet, represented our president at this special event.  Thanks to Rosemary Trussell (Hulett) a small group of us met at 15 Bourbon Street and enjoyed drinks and appetizers.  I urge anyone who took pictures to share them with me and I will make a movie and post it on this blog.

So many years pass and we lose touch.  I would like to keep this blog going for years to come.  I urge all Mercy girls to help me with this effort.  I have a list of all the e-mail addresses for the attendees.  I will make them available to everyone and I hope everyone keeps in touch.  Let's even think about a special celebration like a cruise for our special birthdays in two years!

As of...

As of my last count...there are 50 people from our class attending the luncheon plus 5 guests.  Based on RSVPs there are 25 people from the class attending the after set.  The after set takes place at Bourbon Street Restaurant.  We do not have reservations, so we will just show up and enjoy.

Looking forward to this special day.

Reunion Update

Thanks to Rosemary T. and Mary Ellen I received the list of 45 participants for our class.  Actually three people from the Class of '73 (the first class of Unity) will join us.  This is going to be a great event!

Just Ten Days AWAY!

Today's RSVP brings our count to 26!  Hey, it's our 40th anniversary!  It would be cool if we could get at least 40 people.

Senior year was so much fun.  It was the first year that I participated in the Pep Rally.  We did the party scene from Laugh-In!  How cool! Do you remember how many candy bars you sold?

Pre/After Sets

Rosemary, Debbie and Julie are trying to plan either a preset or post set for 40th reunion.  Debbie is looking into a couple of places like a hospitality room in the hotel or Doubletree in Alsip.  Rosemary has a friend who owns a bar in Oak Lawn. If we have the celebration at the bar, we will have to cater our own food.  When you receive your mailing, you will get more information about our choices and the cost of the extra event.  If you have any suggestions, we need them now. We want to get the information to you in the mailings which will go out on September 1st.  You can leave suggestions in the comment section of the blog.

Welcome, Class of 1972!

Our class is celebrating our 40th anniversary graduating from Mercy High School.  The time has certainly flown by.  I am creating this blog as a place where we can update information about our 40th reunion.  We would also like to continue with this page after the reunion so that we can stay in touch.  If you have any information or questions, please add a comment to the page.  I would love to add photos to this blog.  Also Mercy High School does have a Facebook page where you can also communicate with classmates.
